PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (7News) — It looks like a cross between R2D2 and a bug zapper and really that’s what it is. A robot which zaps the coronavirus with UVC light.

For the Prince George’s County School system it’s the solution to a problem; how to disinfect rooms without exposing cleaning staff to harmful chemicals.

“It’s a lot cleaner, a lot easier to do. Pretty much put it in a room, push the button, it does the work for us,” says Alex Baylor, Environmental Specialist for PGCPS.

It’s called an Adibot and this is one of 51 the county school system has purchased from a company called UBTECH to disinfect rooms in schools which suffer Covid outbreaks. UVC light has been used for decades in medical settings for disinfection.
